Policies

Housing

Policy H3

Balancing the housing market

Forms of housing covered under this policy include supported housing for young people, individuals with mental or physical health issues, homeless households, houseboats, sheltered housing, residential care, nursing homes and extra care facilities. Where possible, housing should be designed flexibly so that it can be adapted to meet alternative housing uses as needs change in the future. Such housing should be provided across the city, as opposed to being concentrated in certain areas, to help to enable people moving into such accommodation to remain in their local area and to create and maintain balanced communities.
